Welcome to my first blog page. I’d like to share a bit about me, my craft and my business.

I have been creating, crafting and designing most of my life!
I am now 72 years old.
So it was with disappointment that recent surgery for a blocked carotid Artery changed that for me. In the past with medical procedures and the like, I would bounce back fairly quickly. My nursing training, Naturopathic skills and the knowledge of many ‘super’ foods, I would be on the mend fast.
But this one threw me, this one affected me more than I cared to admit!
Why one Artery on one side? It had me puzzled, but then I remembered that when I was young, I had fallen off my bicycle and the handlebar had hit hard in my neck, so scar tissue had obviously made the area susceptible.
So yes, thankfully the surgery was a success, all went well!
I was at home resting & being looked after by my partner.
But I couldn’t be ‘creative’.
I wasn’t able to sit and design the way I did!
I was over the trauma of surgery, feeling better, getting organised.
But it all took time, much longer than I imagined!
It is now 4+ months later that I am starting to feel like my old self.
Playing with beads, gemstone and designs. I have been having fun of late!

So the bottom line I wanted to share with you all just how precious creativity really is. We can all take it for granted, assume it will always just work or be there when we really need it.
But sometimes, it can leave us for a while, and not just feeling a bit out of sorts, but really just stop working for no reason!
So my advice is surround yourself with good friends, loving family and take time out to recharge. I know you ‘know’ this … but when was the last time you actually did it
Also my sisters’ Hive page http://creatingthehive.com/joyceg Joyce is a lover of quilting and has had some of her work published in Australian Craft & Quilting magazine.
Kind Regards, Helen
